Prepare An Interview Thank You Note

It is very important to follow up with the interviewer after your interview. You want the employer to remember you and sending a brief email or letter will ensure they do.

The thank you note should be an email thanking them for their time and their consideration of you for the position.

Example:

Good afternoon (Mr. or Ms. Contact Name):

Thank you for meeting with me in regards to the (title of the internship) position. I appreciated your time. I am very interested in the internship program and hope to be considered as a possible candidate.

If you have any questions, or if I may be of any assistance, please feel free to contact me at your convenience. I can be reached at 555-555-5555 or via email at
youremail@emailaddress.com.

Sincerely,

(sign in the space here after printing, if mailing)

Your name

Following up regarding your status:

If you don’t hear from the company for a few weeks, you may follow up with an email inquiring about the status of the position. Remember to be courteous, not letting frustrations show in the message

Example:

Good afternoon,

My name is (first name last name). I interviewed for the (title of the position) on (date of the interview). I was wondering about the status of the position. Is the opportunity of (title of the internship) still available?

Please advise if I may be of any assistance in this matter. I can be reached at 555-555-5555 if you have any questions.

Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

Sincerely,

Your name
